Week Of 7/19/1999

Last Week

7/16/1999

On The Rocks

335 Upper Riverdale Rd.
Jonesboro, Ga.
(770) 907-9164

Disco rules on the southside, but Friday night at On The Rocks we had more competition for the attention of the audience than just the DJ.

Tammy and Melanie, two very sexy young women, put on a show that definitely had my attention. The show ended when, after they had joined us on stage, one of the bouncers decided that it had gone too far. He felt compelled to pull one of the lovely young ladies off the stage, and with her in one hand, and her clothes in the other, he headed to the back of the club. Needless to say, I wish I was a bouncer, and where's Bud with the camcorder when you need him?

When the girls left, On The Rocks returned to normal, although I would be very concerned if this was really normal. Normal at On The Rocks means sit and stare at the band, and wait for the disco to start.

Rating: 4 breasts *

Irish Bred

6459 Highway 42 #9
Rex, Ga.
(770) 389-8970

Irish Bred was packed Saturday night, but like On The Rocks, it's hard to get the audience into the music.

There's not much to say about this gig, except that it's a nice club and the people are friendly. One bonus Saturday night was the fact that Randy brought his congas, and he and Mark traded off between the congas and the drums all night.

Of all the DJs we work with Leena is our favorite. She plays some pretty good rock n roll in between the disco tunes.

Rating: 1 Breast *

Fat Matt's Rib Shack

1811 Piedmont Rd.
Atlanta,Ga.
(404) 607-1622

This was one of our best nights at Fat Matts ever, thanks mostly to a great crowd of people.

We had some substitute tambourine girls help us get the crowd on their feet, and Debbie Cowan made sure that no one sat there quietly.

We would like to send our personal condolences to the Captain's new corvette.

Brewsters

3595 Canton Hwy.
Marietta, Ga.
(770)591-1291

Finally, we're back on the northside at Brewsters. It seems like a long time since we played here, so we are really looking forward to it.

Randy Dorris will be playing drums with us on this gig, cause Mark will be out of his mind town again.

One thing nice about Brewsters and Fat Matt's, is that you don't need to check the breast rating to know that you are going to have a good time. Even if we suck, the food is incredible, and anyway, we don't suck!

Come out and see for yourselves. You won't regret it!

Fat Matt's Rib Shack

1811 Piedmont Rd.
Atlanta,Ga.
(404) 607-1622

This is our last Sunday at Fat Matt's this month, so if you want to see Blues Cat in the place where we feel the most comfortable, this is your last chance for a while.

This is the only place that we feel compelled to play Mustang Sally to end the night. It's an amazing experience when everyone from little kids to the cooks in the back, are shaking tambourines and dancing their asses off.

Don't bother to come, unless you want to have a good time, or at least some good food.

We have a drummer for Sunday night at Fat Matts. Randy's son Terry is going to play with us. We had one short rehearsal and it sounded pretty good, so come on out and have some fun with us. We're going to enjoy playing with Terry, and We think you will enjoy it too!

* I've added a rating system that I borrowed from Joe Bob Briggs. He used this system to rate drive in movies, but it can easily be applied to our gigs. A club with a consistently  high rating just might be worth checking out, even if gets an otherwise poor review. In other words, a club with a DJ might still be worth going to if it gets a rating of 2 or more breasts.
