| Brewsters-Friday
03/24/2000 |
|
This was our first gig without Tim on guitar, and all in
all in went pretty good. I can't say that we didn't miss Tim at times,
but Greg Billingsley is a wonderful guitarist, and he exceeded our
expectations. We hope that he had as much fun as we did, and that he
will decide to stay with Blues Cat for a long time.
Brewsters is still benefiting from the closure of Chicago Pizza, and
we had a lot a partying people there Friday night. Here are the
highlights:
 |
Of course Greg's guitar playing
was the highlight for us. We were nervous going in to a 4 hour gig
with almost no rehearsal, but Greg pulled it off and then some. |
 |
My personal highlight was the fact
that Shania Twain's ass was there again, and it was on the same
girl that it was on last week. She can move it even better than
Shania does. |
 |
The staff at Brewsters are getting
used to working even harder than usual. There are a lot more
thirsty and hungry people hanging out at Brewsters since Chicago
Pizza closed. Anyway, the staff did a wonderful job, and we luv
all of 'em. |
 |
The swing master was there, and his
wife gave him permission to stay late so that he could stand on
stage and play dual tambourines for a whole set...very weird! |
 |
Alex was there. He is setting up a
mall tour of south Georgia for us, with The Beatles opening. I'm
just kidding, but he does have some shows for us coming up that we
will be sure to let you know about. |
 |
Mark Evans was there, and he promised
that when he is in the right frame of mind (so drunk he can't
remember his name), he will sit in on bass. |
This gig marks a new beginning for Blues Cat, and we hope that the
next three years are even better than the last three.

| Sports Cafe-Saturday
03/25/2000 |
|
We came to the Sports Cafe with more confidence, because
Friday night at Brewsters had gone so well. We left the Sports Cafe with
the feeling that we could conquer the world.
Greg's guitar playing lifted us to a level of energy and excitement
that we haven't felt for a while. Plus, Randy Dorris was on congas all
night, and the crowd was as enthusiastic as any we have played for. The
end result was almost magical, and we left high on the knowledge that we
had created something very special.
There is no need to list the trivial events of this night, as the
music took center stage, although do I have to admit that our one dancer
of the night, did take my mind off the music for a moment.
We apparently impressed the owners of the Sports Cafe as well, and we
will be playing here quite a lot in the coming months. This is becoming
a really cool club and we hope that our fans will continue to support
their effort to bring good music to the Southside. |
